Terms of use
The scope and responsibilities of using VA Claim Assistance self-service writing software.
Last updated September 30, 2026
Self-service writing and education
VA Claim Assistance is independent software for learning, organizing notes, and drafting editable text. It is not affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs and does not provide accredited representation, legal advice, clinical care, diagnosis, or signed medical opinions.
Your facts and your review
Only provide information you know to be accurate. Do not fabricate events, symptoms, diagnoses, witness observations, medical evidence, or signatures. Review every AI output for errors and remove unsupported statements. You are responsible for the final document and any decision to submit it. Nothing is automatically filed with the VA.
AI and demonstration limits
AI can make mistakes and cannot determine your eligibility, rating, or claim outcome. Demonstration outputs use fictional examples and must not be submitted as your own evidence. AI drafting requires confirmed facts and, when live AI is enabled, consent to provider processing.
Medical and representation boundaries
A worksheet for a clinician visit can help organize questions. It does not create a nexus opinion or authorize a clinician to sign a conclusion they have not independently evaluated. Ask a qualified clinician about medical opinions and a VA-accredited representative about representation.
Accounts and acceptable use
Keep your password private. Do not attempt to access another person’s drafts, bypass usage limits, attack the service, or use it to mislead a witness, clinician, or benefits agency. Do not upload medical records or enter sensitive identifiers. Service access can be restricted for abuse or operational reasons.
Availability and fees
Free tools may change as the service develops. The free live AI allowance, when enabled, is 30 successful responses per account per UTC calendar month. Proposed paid prices are informational until checkout opens with published purchase terms. No fee is based on a percentage of VA benefits. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or claim success.
Getting help
Keep a separate copy of your important documents. For free claim assistance, visit VA’s accredited representative resource. For an immediate crisis, call 988 and press 1, or text 838255 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line.
